44 And on the coming Sabbath, almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of the Lord. The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
45 But the Jews, having seen the crowds, were filled with jealousy, and they began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him.
46 And Paul and Barnabas, having spoken boldly, said, “It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken first to you⁺. But since you⁺ thrust it away and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
47 For thus the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have placed you as a light for the Gentiles, that you may be for salvation to the end of the earth.’” For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “’I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
48 And the Gentiles hearing were rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was carried through the whole region. And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. The word of the Lord spread through the whole region.
50 But the Jews incited the worshiping women of honorable position and the principals of the city, and they stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them from their district. But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.
51 And having shaken off the dust of the feet against them, they went to Iconium. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.
