1 וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ב אֲבִיָּ֜ה עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֗יו וַיִּקְבְּר֤וּ אֹתוֹ֙ בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אָסָ֥א בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּ֑יו בְּיָמָ֛יו שָׁקְטָ֥ה הָאָ֖רֶץ עֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃ פ Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land had rest for ten years. And Abijah rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king, and in his days the country was at peace for ten years.
2 וַיַּ֤עַשׂ אָסָא֙ הַטּ֣וֹב וְהַיָּשָׁ֔ר בְּעֵינֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God. Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.
3 וַיָּ֛סַר אֶת־ מִזְבְּח֥וֹת הַנֵּכָ֖ר וְהַבָּמ֑וֹת וַיְשַׁבֵּר֙ אֶת־ הַמַּצֵּב֔וֹת וַיְגַדַּ֖ע אֶת־ הָאֲשֵׁרִֽים׃ He took away the foreign altars and the high places and broke down the pillars and cut down the Asherim He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.
4 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לִֽיהוּדָ֔ה לִדְר֕וֹשׁ אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם וְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹת הַתּוֹרָ֥ה וְהַמִּצְוָֽה׃ and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandment. He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his laws and commands.
5 וַיָּ֙סַר֙ מִכָּל־ עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶת־ הַבָּמ֖וֹת וְאֶת־ הַֽחַמָּנִ֑ים וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה לְפָנָֽיו׃ He also took out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the incense altars. And the kingdom had rest under him. He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him.
