| 6 | And rose up Jeroboam son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon son of David, and he rebelled against his lord. | Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his lord, | Yet Jeroboam son of Nebat, an official of Solomon son of David, rebelled against his master. | |
| 7 | And vain men gathered to him, sons of worthlessness, and they strenghtened themselves against Rehoboam son of Solomon. And Rehoboam was young and tender of heart, and he could not strengthen himself against them. | and certain worthless scoundrels gathered about him and defied Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and irresolute and could not withstand them. | Some worthless scoundrels gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive and not strong enough to resist them. | |
