1 I BESEECH you, therefore, first of all to offer to God, petitions, prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving for all men, First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—
2 For kings and for all in authority; that we may live a quiet and peaceable life, in all purity and Godliness. for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour: This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
4 Who desires all men to be saved and to return to the knowledge of the truth. who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, a testimony which came in due time. who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
7 For that testimony I was appointed a preacher and an apostle; I tell the truth and I lie not; and I became the teacher of the Gentiles in a true faith. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.
8 I wish, therefore, that men pray everywhere, lifting up their holy hands, without anger and doubting thoughts. I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
9 In like manner also, let the apparel of women be simple and their adornment be modest and refined; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
10 But let them be engaged in good works, as is becoming women who profess fear of God. but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
12 I do not think it seemly for a woman to debate publicly or otherwise usurp the authority of men but should be silent. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and she transgressed the law. and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
15 Nevertheless, if her posterity continue in faith and have holiness and chastity, she will live, through them. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
