New Living Translation | NET Bible |
I lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven. | 1A song of ascents. I look up toward you, the one enthroned in heaven. |
We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal. | 2Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, so my eyes will look to the LORD, our God, until he shows us favor. |
Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt. | 3Show us favor, O LORD, show us favor! For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some. |
We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant. | 4We have had our fill of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud. |
