| 1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. | 1LORD, listen to my words, consider my groaning. |
| 2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. | 2Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for unto you will I pray. |
| 3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | 3LORD, in the morning you will hear my voice; in the morning I will pray to you, and I will watch for your answer. |
| 4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. | 4Indeed, you aren't a God who delights in wickedness; evil will never dwell with you. |
| 5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil. | 5Boastful ones will not stand before you; you hate all those who practice wickedness. |
| 6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers. | 6You will destroy those who speak lies. The LORD abhors the person of bloodshed and deceit. |
| 7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. | 7But I, because of the abundance of your gracious love, may come into your house. In awe of you, I will worship in your holy Temple. |
| 8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow. | 8LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your path straight before me. |
| 9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery. | 9But as for the wicked, they do not speak truth at all. Inside them there is only wickedness. Their throat is an open grave, on their tongue is deceitful flattery. |
| 10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. | 10Declare them guilty, God! Let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them away because of their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against you. |
| 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. | 11Let all those who take refuge in you rejoice! Let them shout for joy forever, and may you protect them. Let those who love your name exult in you. |
| 12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love. | 12Indeed, you will bless the righteous one, LORD, like a large shield, you will surround him with favor. |
