| 1A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. | 1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. |
| 2So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. | 2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. |
| 3Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. | 3Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. |
| 4Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. | 4So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. |
| 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. | 5My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, |
| 6When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. | 6when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; |
| 7Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. | 7for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. |
