1Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.1The following were the divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.
2And the sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4Moreover the sons of Obed-Edom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,4Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth; for God blessed him.5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth, for God blessed him.
6Also to Shemaiah his son were sons born who governed their fathers’ houses, because they were men of great ability.6Also, to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled their ancestral families because they were strong, capable men.
7The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men.7Shemaiah's sons: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semachiah were also capable men.
8All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.8All of these were among the sons of Obed-edom with their sons and relatives; they were capable men with strength for the work--sixty-two from Obed-edom.
9And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.9Meshelemiah also had sons and relatives who were capable men--eighteen.
10Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him the first),10Hosah, from the Merarites, also had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him as the first),
11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were thirteen in all.
12Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties just like their brethren, to serve in the house of the LORD.12These divisions of the gatekeepers, under their leading men, had duties for ministering in the LORD's temple, just as their relatives did.
13And they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house.13They cast lots for each temple gate according to their ancestral families, young and old alike.
14The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate;14The lot for the east gate fell to Shelemiah. They also cast lots for his son Zechariah, an insightful counselor, and his lot came out for the north gate.
15to Obed-Edom the South Gate, and to his sons the storehouse.15Obed-edom's was the south gate, and his sons' lot was for the storehouses;
16To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came out for the West Gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway—watchman opposite watchman.16it was the west gate and the gate of Shallecheth on the ascending highway for Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
17On the east were six Levites, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and for the storehouse two by two.17There were six Levites each day on the east, four each day on the north, four each day on the south, and two pair at the storehouses.
18As for the Parbar on the west, there were four on the highway and two at the Parbar.18As for the court on the west, there were four at the highway and two at the court.
19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari.19Those were the divisions of the gatekeepers from the descendants of the Korahites and Merarites.
20Of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the dedicated things.20From the Levites, Ahijah was in charge of the treasuries of God's temple and the treasuries of what had been dedicated.
21The sons of Laadan, the descendants of the Gershonites of Laadan, heads of their fathers’ houses, of Laadan the Gershonite: Jehieli.21From the sons of Ladan, who were the descendants of the Gershonites through Ladan and were the family heads belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.
22The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the LORD.22The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel, were in charge of the treasuries of the LORD's temple.
23Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:23From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries.24Shebuel, a descendant of Moses's son Gershom, was the officer in charge of the treasuries.
25And his brethren by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.25His relatives through Eliezer: his son Rehabiah, his son Jeshaiah, his son Joram, his son Zichri, and his son Shelomith.
26This Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things which King David and the heads of fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated.26This Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries of what had been dedicated by King David, by the family heads who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders.
27Some of the spoils won in battles they dedicated to maintain the house of the LORD.27They dedicated part of the plunder from their battles for the repair of the LORD's temple.
28And all that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, every dedicated thing, was under the hand of Shelomith and his brethren.28All that the seer Samuel, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, along with everything else that had been dedicated, were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.
29Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons performed duties as officials and judges over Israel outside Jerusalem.29From the Izrahites: Chenaniah and his sons had duties outside the temple as officers and judges over Israel.
30Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, one thousand seven hundred able men, had the oversight of Israel on the west side of the Jordan for all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.30From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, had assigned duties in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
31Among the Hebronites, Jerijah was head of the Hebronites according to his genealogy of the fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought, and there were found among them capable men at Jazer of Gilead.31From the Hebronites: Jerijah was the head of the Hebronites, according to the family records of his ancestors. A search was made in the fortieth year of David's reign and strong, capable men were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.
32And his brethren were two thousand seven hundred able men, heads of fathers’ houses, whom King David made officials over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God and the affairs of the king.32There were among Jerijah's relatives 2,700 capable men who were family heads. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh as overseers in every matter relating to God and the king.
