1The divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.1As for the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,2And Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth and Eliehoenai the seventh.3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
4Obed-Edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sakar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,4And Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth. (For God had blessed Obed-Edom.)5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth, for God blessed him.
6Obed-Edom's son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father's family because they were very capable men.6Also to his son Shemaiah were sons born who were rulers in their fathers’ houses, for they were men of great ability.
7The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men.7The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad, whose brothers were able men, Elihu and Semachiah.
8All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work--descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.8All these were of the sons of Obed-edom with their sons and brothers, able men qualified for the service; sixty-two of Obed-edom.
9Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men--18 in all.9And Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, able men, eighteen.
10Hosah the Merarite had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him the first),10And Hosah, of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him chief),
11Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were 13 in all.11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.
12These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their leaders, had duties for ministering in the temple of the LORD, just as their relatives had.12These divisions of the gatekeepers, corresponding to their chief men, had duties, just as their brothers did, ministering in the house of the LORD.
13Lots were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.13And they cast lots by fathers’ houses, small and great alike, for their gates.
14The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him.14The lot for the east fell to Shelemiah. They cast lots also for his son Zechariah, a shrewd counselor, and his lot came out for the north.
15The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.15Obed-edom’s came out for the south, and to his sons was allotted the gatehouse.
16The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. Guard was alongside of guard:16For Shuppim and Hosah it came out for the west, at the gate of Shallecheth on the road that goes up. Watch corresponded to watch.
17There were six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north, four a day on the south and two at a time at the storehouse.17On the east there were six each day, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, as well as two and two at the gatehouse.
18As for the court to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court itself.18And for the colonnade on the west there were four at the road and two at the colonnade.
19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the Korahites and the sons of Merari.
20Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.20And of the Levites, Ahijah had charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated gifts.
21The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli,21The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the fathers’ houses belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.
22the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.22The sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and Joel his brother, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
23From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:23Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites—
24Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the official in charge of the treasuries.24and Shebuel the son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief officer in charge of the treasuries.
25His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zikri his son and Shelomith his son.25His brothers: from Eliezer were his son Rehabiah, and his son Jeshaiah, and his son Joram, and his son Zichri, and his son Shelomoth.
26Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders.26This Shelomoth and his brothers were in charge of all the treasuries of the dedicated gifts that David the king and the heads of the fathers’ houses and the officers of the thousands and the hundreds and the commanders of the army had dedicated.
27Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the temple of the LORD.27From spoil won in battles they dedicated gifts for the maintenance of the house of the LORD.
28And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.28Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated—all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.
29From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel.29Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were appointed to external duties for Israel, as officers and judges.
30From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives--seventeen hundred able men--were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the king's service.30Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, 1,700 men of ability, had the oversight of Israel westward of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
31As for the Hebronites, Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth year of David's reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead.31Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was chief of the Hebronites of whatever genealogy or fathers’ houses. (In the fortieth year of David’s reign search was made and men of great ability among them were found at Jazer in Gilead.)
32Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.32King David appointed him and his brothers, 2,700 men of ability, heads of fathers’ houses, to have the oversight of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites for everything pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
