NET Bible | New International Version |
How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! | 1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, |
Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD's commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. | 2but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. |
He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. | 3That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. |
Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff. | 4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
For this reason the wicked cannot withstand judgment, nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly. | 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. |
Certainly the LORD guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. | 6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. |
