NASB Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
1A Song of Ascents, of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.1A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.2In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for bread to eat—for He gives sleep to His beloved.
3Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.3Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth.4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are children born in one’s youth.
5How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate.5Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. He will not be put to shame when he confronts the enemies at the gate.
