Job 11
NASB Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,1Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:
"Shall a multitude of words go unanswered, And a talkative man be acquitted?2“Should this stream of words go unanswered and such a speaker be vindicated?
"Shall your boasts silence men? And shall you scoff and none rebuke?3Should your babbling put others to silence? Will you scoff without rebuke?
"For you have said, 'My teaching is pure, And I am innocent in your eyes.'4You have said, ‘My doctrine is sound, and I am pure in Your sight.’
"But would that God might speak, And open His lips against you,5But if only God would speak and open His lips against you,
And show you the secrets of wisdom! For sound wisdom has two sides. Know then that God forgets a part of your iniquity.6and disclose to you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom has two sides. Know then that God exacts from you less than your iniquity deserves.
"Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?7Can you fathom the deep things of God or discover the limits of the Almighty?
"They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?8They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than Sheol—what can you know?
"Its measure is longer than the earth And broader than the sea.9Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.
"If He passes by or shuts up, Or calls an assembly, who can restrain Him?10If He comes along to imprison you, or convenes a court, who can stop Him?
"For He knows false men, And He sees iniquity without investigating.11Surely He knows the deceit of men. If He sees iniquity, does He not take note?
"An idiot will become intelligent When the foal of a wild donkey is born a man.12But a witless man can no more become wise than the colt of a wild donkey can be born a man!
"If you would direct your heart right And spread out your hand to Him,13As for you, if you direct your heart and lift up your hands to Him,
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, And do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;14if you put away the iniquity in your hand, and allow no injustice to dwell in your tents,
"Then, indeed, you could lift up your face without moral defect, And you would be steadfast and not fear.15then indeed you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and unafraid.
"For you would forget your trouble, As waters that have passed by, you would remember it.16For you will forget your misery, recalling it only as waters gone by.
"Your life would be brighter than noonday; Darkness would be like the morning.17Your life will be brighter than noonday; its darkness will be like the morning.
"Then you would trust, because there is hope; And you would look around and rest securely.18You will be secure, because there is hope, and you will look around and lie down in safety.
"You would lie down and none would disturb you, And many would entreat your favor.19You will lie down without fear, and many will court your favor.
"But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And there will be no escape for them; And their hope is to breathe their last."20But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; they will hope for their last breath.”
