King James Bible | New International Version |
Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. | 1Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands. |
His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. | 2Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. |
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. | 3Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. |
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. | 4Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. |
A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. | 5Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. |
Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. | 6Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. |
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. | 7They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD. |
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. | 8Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. |
He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. | 9They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor. |
The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. | 10The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing. |
