To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. | 1Clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with a loud cry of joy! |
For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. | 2For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. |
He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. | 3He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet. |
He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah. | 4He chose our inheritance for us, even the pride of Jacob whom he loved. Interlude |
God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. | 5God has ascended on high with a shout, the LORD has ascended with the blast of a trumpet. |
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. | 6Sing songs to God! Sing songs! Sing songs to our King! Sing songs! |
For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. | 7Indeed, God is king over all the earth; sing a song of praise. |
God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. | 8God is king over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. |
The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted. | 9The nobles among the nations have joined the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted. |
