Holman Christian Standard BibleNET Bible
Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: 1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered:
Dominion and dread belong to Him, the One who establishes harmony in the heavens. 2"Dominion and awesome might belong to God; he establishes peace in his heights.
Can His troops be numbered? Does His light not shine on everyone? 3Can his armies be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?
How can a person be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? 4How then can a human being be righteous before God? How can one born of a woman be pure?
If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in His sight, 5If even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure as far as he is concerned,
how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm! 6how much less a mortal man, who is but a maggot--a son of man, who is only a worm!"
