Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.3We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring.4So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you,6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,11Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.12That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
