A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water. | 1A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; |
So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory. | 2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. |
Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You. | 3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. |
So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands. | 4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. |
My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You. | 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: |
When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night. | 6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. |
For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. | 7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. |
My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. | 8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. |
But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth. | 9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. |
They will fall to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for foxes. | 10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. |
But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut. | 11But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. |
