Isaiah son of Amoz received this message concerning the destruction of Babylon:
Their little children will be dashed to death before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked, and their wives will be raped.
"Come down, virgin daughter of Babylon, and sit in the dust. For your days of sitting on a throne have ended. O daughter of Babylonia, never again will you be the lovely princess, tender and delicate.
"Then, after the seventy years of captivity are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his people for their sins," says the LORD. "I will make the country of the Babylonians a wasteland forever.
The LORD gave Jeremiah the prophet this message concerning Babylon and the land of the Babylonians.
