Instead, I sometimes think God has put us apostles on display, like prisoners of war at the end of a victor's parade, condemned to die. We have become a spectacle to the entire world--to people and angels alike.
"Oh, why give light to those in misery, and life to those who are bitter?
People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire.
"How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble!
You know of my shame, scorn, and disgrace. You see all that my enemies are doing.
We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan.
Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.
