Job 37

1At this my heart also trembles, and leaps out of its place. 2Listen attentively the thunder of His voice, and the rumbling that goes out of His mouth. 3He unleashes it beneath the whole heaven, and His lightning to the ends of the earth. 4After that a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice; and He will not restrain the lightning when His voice is heard. 5God thunders marvelously with His voice; great things He does, which we cannot comprehend. 6For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth; likewise, to the gentle rain, and to the heavy rain, be strong. 7He stays the hand of every man; they all stop their work and acknowledge His work. 8Then the animals take cover and go into their dens. 9Out of the south comes the whirlwind; and cold out of the north. 10By the breath of God, frost and ice are formed; and broad of the waters are frozen. 11He also loads the thick cloud with water; He disperses lightning with His clouds: 12At His direction, they swirl around; and they do whatever He commands them on the face of the whole world. 13He brings clouds, whether for correction, or for the benefit of His land, or for mercy.

14Hearken unto this, O Job; stop, and consider the wondrous works of God. 15Do you know when God established them, and caused the lightning of His cloud to shine? 16Do you understand how He moves the clouds, and all the wondrous works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge? 17How You who swelter in your clothes, when He causes the land to lie hushed under the south wind? 18Can you aid Him in spreading out the expanse of the sky, like a heavy metal mirror? 19Tell us what we should say to Him; since we are too ignorant to order our words. 20Shall it be told Him that I want to speak (to Him)? If a man speaks, he risks being swallowed up. 21Men cannot look (stare) at the bright sun in a clear, cloudless sky. 22So, also, is the golden splendor of God’s awe-inspiring majesty. 23The Almighty is beyond our reach; we cannot touch Him out; He is excellent in power, and abundant in justice, and righteousness; He does not oppress. 24Men, therefore, hold Him in awe and reverence; He does not respect any that are wise in their own conceit.
