Good News Translation
Some of them may be stationed in the great royal fortresses, and others assigned to responsible positions in the government. They shall have Jews as their leaders and officers, and they shall be allowed to follow their own laws and customs, just as the king has permitted for the people of Judea.

Let some of them be stationed in the great strongholds of the king, and let some of them be put in positions of trust in the kingdom. Let their officers and leaders be of their own number, and let them live by their own laws, just as the king has commanded in the land of Judah.

Some of them will help guard my main fortresses, and others will be given important jobs in the kingdom. I'll let them live by their own laws and choose their own leaders and officers. In fact, this is how things already are in Judea.
