Hurry, O LORD, to Help Me!
(Psalm 40:1–17; Psalm 141:1–10)

לַ֝מְנַצֵּ֗חַ (For the one directing). לְדָוִ֥ד (Of David). לְהַזְכִּֽיר׃ (For remembrance).

1אֱלֹהִ֥ים (O God), לְהַצִּילֵ֑נִי (deliver me)—

יְ֝הוָ֗ה (O YHWH), לְעֶזְרָ֥תִי (to help me)— חֽוּשָֽׁה׃ (may You hurry).

2  יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ (Let them be ashamed) וְיַחְפְּרוּ֮ (and confounded)

מְבַקְשֵׁ֪י (those seeking) נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י (my soul);

יִסֹּ֣גוּ (let them be turned) אָ֭חוֹר (back) וְיִכָּלְמ֑וּ (and be disgraced)

חֲ֝פֵצֵ֗י (those taking delight in) רָעָתִֽי׃ (my harm).

3  יָ֭שׁוּבוּ (Let them be turned back) עַל־ (over) עֵ֣קֶב (the heel) בָּשְׁתָּ֑ם (of their shame)

הָ֝אֹמְרִ֗ים (those saying), הֶ֘אָ֥ח׀ (Aha), הֶאָֽח׃ (aha)!

4  יָ֘שִׂ֤ישׂוּ (Let them rejoice) וְיִשְׂמְח֨וּ׀ (and be glad) בְּךָ֗ (in You)

כָּֽל־ (all) מְבַ֫קְשֶׁ֥יךָ (those seeking You)

וְיֹאמְר֣וּ (and let them say) תָ֭מִיד (continually), יִגְדַּ֣ל (let be magnified) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God)

אֹ֝הֲבֵ֗י (Those loving) יְשׁוּעָתֶֽךָ׃ (Your salvation).

5  וַאֲנִ֤י׀ (And I am) עָנִ֣י (lowly) וְאֶבְיוֹן֮ (and needy);

אֱלֹהִ֪ים (O God) חֽוּשָׁ֫ה־ (hurry) לִּ֥י (to me)!

עֶזְרִ֣י (My help) וּמְפַלְטִ֣י (and my deliverer) אַ֑תָּה (are You);

יְ֝הוָ֗ה (O YHWH), אַל־ (do not) תְּאַחַֽר׃ (delay).
