Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

שִׁ֥יר (A Song) הַֽמַּעֲל֗וֹת (of the Ascents). לְדָ֫וִ֥ד (Of David).

1שָׂ֭מַחְתִּי (I was glad) בְּאֹמְרִ֣ים (at the saying) לִ֑י (to me),

בֵּ֖ית (To the house) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) נֵלֵֽךְ׃ (let us go).

2  עֹ֭מְדוֹת (Standing) הָי֣וּ (have been) רַגְלֵ֑ינוּ (our feet) בִּ֝שְׁעָרַ֗יִךְ (within your gates),

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (O Jerusalem).

3  יְרוּשָׁלִַ֥ם (Jerusalem) הַבְּנוּיָ֑ה (is built up)

כְּ֝עִ֗יר (as a city) שֶׁחֻבְּרָה־ (joined) לָּ֥הּ (to itself)— יַחְדָּֽו׃ (together),

4  שֶׁשָּׁ֨ם (there) עָל֪וּ (go up) שְׁבָטִ֡ים (the tribes),

שִׁבְטֵי־ (the tribes) יָ֭הּ (of YAH),

עֵד֣וּת (as a testimony) לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (for Israel),

לְ֝הֹד֗וֹת (to give thanks) לְשֵׁ֣ם (to the name) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

5  כִּ֤י (For) שָׁ֨מָּה׀ (there) יָשְׁב֣וּ (sit) כִסְא֣וֹת (the thrones) לְמִשְׁפָּ֑ט (of judgment),

כִּ֝סְא֗וֹת (the thrones) לְבֵ֣ית (of the house) דָּוִֽיד׃ (of David).

6  שַׁ֭אֲלוּ (Ask for) שְׁל֣וֹם (the peace) יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (of Jerusalem):

יִ֝שְׁלָ֗יוּ (May they prosper) אֹהֲבָֽיִךְ׃ (those loving you).

7  יְהִֽי־ (May there be) שָׁל֥וֹם (peace) בְּחֵילֵ֑ךְ (within your wall),

שַׁ֝לְוָ֗ה (prosperity) בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִךְ׃ (within your citadels).

8  לְ֭מַעַן (For the sake) אַחַ֣י (of my brothers) וְרֵעָ֑י (and my companions)

אֲדַבְּרָה־ (let me say), נָּ֖א (now): שָׁל֣וֹם (Peace be) בָּֽךְ׃ (within you).

9  לְ֭מַעַן (For the sake) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ (our God)

אֲבַקְשָׁ֖ה (I will seek) ט֣וֹב (good) לָֽךְ׃ (for you).
