The concept of the glory of God as the ultimate goal of human existence is a central theme throughout the Bible. It underscores the purpose of creation, the mission of Jesus Christ, and the calling of believers. The glory of God refers to the manifestation of His divine attributes, majesty, and holiness, and it is the ultimate end for which all things exist.

Creation and the Glory of God

The Bible begins with the declaration of God's creative work, which inherently reflects His glory. In Genesis 1:31, God saw all that He had made, and it was "very good." The creation itself is a testament to God's power and majesty, as expressed in Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." Believers are exhorted in 1 Corinthians 10:31, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God."

Eternal Glory

The ultimate fulfillment of God's glory will be realized in the eschatological future. Revelation 21:23 describes the New Jerusalem, stating, "The city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb." In eternity, God's glory will be fully revealed and enjoyed by His people, as they dwell in His presence forever.

Living for God's Glory

Living for the glory of God involves a life of worship, obedience, and service. Romans 12:1 urges believers to "offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship." By aligning their lives with God's will, believers reflect His glory to the world. Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
