In the Old Testament, personal responsibility is evident in the Law given to Israel. Genesis 1:28 provides the foundational mandate for stewardship: "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.'" This verse establishes humanity's role as stewards of the earth, responsible for its care and management.

In the New Testament, stewardship is further emphasized in passages like 1 Peter 4:10 , which states, "As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another." This verse highlights the responsibility of believers to use their spiritual gifts for the benefit of others, reflecting God's grace and generosity.

Financial stewardship is another important aspect, as seen in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 : "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." This passage encourages believers to manage their financial resources wisely and to give generously, reflecting a heart of gratitude and trust in God's provision.
