Names and Titles
Jesus of Nazareth, also known as Jesus Christ, is central to Christian theology and is recognized as the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. The name "Jesus" is derived from the Hebrew name Yeshua, meaning "Yahweh is salvation." The title "Christ" comes from the Greek "Christos," meaning "Anointed One," equivalent to the Hebrew "Messiah."

Divine Sonship
Jesus is identified as the Son of God, a title affirming His divine nature and unique relationship with God the Father. In the Gospel of Matthew, during Jesus' baptism, a voice from heaven declares, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17). This divine affirmation is echoed at the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:5).

The Word Made Flesh
The Gospel of John presents Jesus as the pre-existent Word (Logos) who became flesh. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us" (John 1:1, 14). This passage underscores the belief in Jesus' divine nature and incarnation.

Messianic Fulfillment
Jesus is portrayed as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah. In Luke 4:17-21, Jesus reads from the scroll of Isaiah and declares, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing" (Luke 4:21). His life, death, and resurrection are seen as the realization of messianic expectations.

Savior and Redeemer
Central to Jesus' identity is His role as Savior and Redeemer. According to Christian doctrine, Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross provides atonement for sin. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). His resurrection is viewed as the victory over sin and death.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life
Jesus describes Himself as the exclusive path to God: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). This statement emphasizes His unique role in salvation and His authority in spiritual matters.

King of Kings and Lord of Lords
In the Book of Revelation, Jesus is depicted as the triumphant King and Lord: "They will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings" (Revelation 17:14). This title affirms His ultimate authority and sovereignty.

The Good Shepherd
Jesus is also known as the Good Shepherd, a metaphor illustrating His care and guidance for His followers. "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep" (John 10:11). This imagery highlights His protective and sacrificial nature.

The Light of the World
Jesus claims to be the Light of the World, bringing spiritual illumination and truth. "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12). This title signifies His role in dispelling spiritual darkness.

The Bread of Life
In John 6:35, Jesus declares, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst" . This metaphor emphasizes His role in providing spiritual sustenance and eternal life.

The Alpha and the Omega
In Revelation, Jesus is referred to as the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End" (Revelation 22:13). This title underscores His eternal nature and divine authority over all creation.
