Definition and Nature
Divine Revelation refers to the act by which God discloses Himself and His will to humanity. It is the means through which God communicates truths that would otherwise remain unknown. This revelation is both general and special, encompassing the natural world and the specific messages conveyed through Scripture and the person of Jesus Christ.

General Revelation
General Revelation is the knowledge of God and His attributes as revealed through creation and the natural order. It is accessible to all people and serves as a testament to God's existence and power. Psalm 19:1-2 declares, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge." Similarly, Romans 1:20 states, "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."

Special Revelation
Special Revelation is the direct communication from God to humanity, which includes the Scriptures and the incarnation of Jesus Christ. This form of revelation is necessary for understanding the specifics of God's plan for salvation and His moral will. Hebrews 1:1-2 explains, "On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. But in these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe."

The Role of Scripture
The Bible is the primary source of Special Revelation, inspired by the Holy Spirit and authoritative for faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 affirms, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work." The Scriptures reveal God's character, His redemptive plan, and His commandments.

The Incarnation of Christ
The ultimate act of Special Revelation is the incarnation of Jesus Christ, who is the living Word of God. John 1:14 states, "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." Through Christ, God has provided the clearest and most complete revelation of Himself.

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in both the inspiration of Scripture and the illumination of believers' understanding. John 16:13 promises, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come." The Spirit enables believers to comprehend and apply the truths of Divine Revelation.

Purpose and Impact
The purpose of Divine Revelation is to bring humanity into a relationship with God, to reveal His will, and to guide believers in righteous living. It serves as the foundation for faith, providing assurance and hope. Revelation 1:1 introduces the book of Revelation as "The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John." Through Divine Revelation, God unveils His ultimate plan for creation and the destiny of humanity.
