Prophecy is commended, |
and preferred before speaking in tongues, |
by a comparison drawn from musical instruments. |
Both must be referred to edification, |
| 20 Ἀδελφοί, μὴ παιδία γίνεσθε ταῖς φρεσὶν ἀλλὰ τῇ κακίᾳ νηπιάζετε, ταῖς δὲ φρεσὶν τέλειοι γίνεσθε. 21 ἐν τῷ νόμῳ γέγραπται ὅτι |
| ἐν ἑτερογλώσσοις |
| καὶ ἐν χείλεσιν ἑτέρων |
| λαλήσω τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ |
| καὶ οὐδ’ οὕτως εἰσακούσονται μου, |
| λέγει κύριος. |
as to their true and proper end. |
The true use of each is taught, |
and the abuse rebuked. |
