1It has been reported that there is fornication among you, and such sexual depravity that not even the pagans would tolerate - that someone would sleep with his father's wife. 2And still you are proud, and feel no remorse, nor removed the one that has done this from among your fellowship. 3For even though I am not physically present, yet I am with you in spirit; and I have already judged, as though I were present, concerning him that has been doing this. So, when you are gathered together, and I am with you in spirit, with the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5Hand this man over to Satan, for the destruction of his flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day the Lord Jesus returns. 6Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven (yeast) leavens the whole lump (batch of dough)? 7Therefore, get rid of the old leaven (yeast - source of depravity), that you may be a new unleavened batch. For even Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us. 8Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old bread, leavened with wickedness and evil; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9I wrote to you in a letter not to associate with fornicators (sexually immoral people); 10But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers that are immoral, greedy, covetous, extortioners, or idolaters; for then you have to leave this world to avoid them. 11I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer, and yet is a fornicator, covetous, an idolater, abusive, a drunkard, or an extortioner. With such a hypocrite, do not even eat. 12For what business is it of mine to judge those that are outside of the church? Are you not to judge those that are within the church? 13God will judge those that are outside. But remove wicked people from the fellowship of the church.
