Hear, my sons, the discipline of a father, and pay attention to know understanding.

For good teaching I have given to you?; do not forsake my instruction.

For I was a son to my father, tender and the only one before the face of my mother,

and he instructed me and said to me, “Let your heart take hold of my words; keep my commands, and live.

Acquire wisdom; acquire understanding! Do not forget and do not bend away from the words of my mouth.

Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will guard you.

The first thing is wisdom; acquire wisdom, and in all your acquiring, acquire understanding.

Lift her up, and she will exalt you; she will bring you honor when you embrace her.
