Then the Spirit of the LORD {Ruach YHWH} came upon Jephthah (he opens), and he passed through Gilead (rocky region) and Manasseh (causing to forget), then through Mizpah (watchtower) of Gilead. And from there he advanced against the Ammonites (tribal).

Jephthah (he opens) made this vow to the LORD {YHWH}: “If indeed You will deliver the Ammonites (tribal) into my hand,

then whatever comes out the door of my house to greet me on my triumphant return from the Ammonites (tribal) will belong to the LORD {YHWH}, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.”

So Jephthah (he opens) crossed over to the Ammonites (tribal) to fight against them, and the LORD {YHWH} delivered them into his hand.

With a great blow he devastated twenty cities from Aroer (ruins) to the vicinity of Minnith (distribution), as far as Abel-keramim (meadow of the vineyards). So the Ammonites (tribal) were subdued before the Israelites (God prevails).
