45 But because I speak the truth, you believe me not. 46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 He that is of God, hears God's words. For this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God. 48 The Jews answered, and said to him: Do we not well say that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon? 49 Jesus answered: I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 I seek not my own glory; there is one that seeks and judges. 51 Verily, verily I say to you, if any one will keep my word, he shall never see death. 52 Then said the Jews to him: Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead; whom do you make yourself? 54 Jesus answered: If I honor myself, my honor is nothing; it is my Father that honors me, of whom you say, that he is your God. 55 And yet you have not known him. But I know him; and if I should say that I do not know him, I should be like yourselves, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word. 56 Abraham, your father, rejoiced that he could see my day; and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then the Jews said to him: You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said to them: Verily, verily I say to you, before Abraham came into being, I was. 59 Then they took up stones to throw at him. But Jesus concealed himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them; and so passed by. John 8:45-59, Anderson New Testament. Public domain.
