33 They answered him: We are the posterity of Abraham, and have never been in bondage to any one. How say you, You shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them: Verily, verily I say to you, whoever works sin is the servant of sin. 35 The servant continues not in the house forever; but the Son continues forever. 36 Therefore, if the Son make you free, you shall be free indeed. 37 I know that you are the posterity of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you. 38 I speak what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have seen with your father. 39 They answered and said to him: Abraham is our father.
