1 Now on the first of the Sabbaths, Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb early, it being still dark, and she sees the stone having been removed from the tomb. 2 Therefore she runs and comes to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and she says to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they laid Him!” 3 Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out and were coming to the tomb. 4 And the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first. 5 And having stooped down, he sees the linen cloths lying there, but he did not enter. 6 Then Simon Peter also comes, following him, and he entered into the tomb and sees the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the soudarion that was upon His head not lying with the linen cloths but having been folded up in a place by itself. 8 So then the other disciple, the one having come to the tomb first, also entered; and he saw and believed. 9 For not yet did they understand the Scripture, that it is necessary for Him to rise out from the dead. 10 Therefore the disciples went away again to their own. 11 But Mary stood outside at the tomb weeping. Then as she was weeping, she stooped down into the tomb, 12 and she sees two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say to her, “Woman, why do you weep?” She says to them, “Because they took away my Lord, and I do not know where they laid Him.” 14 Having said these things, she turned back around, and she sees Jesus standing there, and she had not known that it is Jesus.
