31 Now for fear the bodies should remain upon the cross on the sabbath-day, for it was then the eve of the pascal-sabbath, a day of high solemnity, the Jews desired Pilate that their legs might be broke, and that they might be taken away.

32 accordingly the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him.

33 then they came to Jesus, and finding that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
