1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah (whom YHWH has appointed) from the LORD {YHWH} in the tenth year of Zedekiah (YHWH is righteous) king of Judah (praised), which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar (may Nebo protect the crown). 2 At that time the army of the king of Babylon (confusion by mixing) was besieging Jerusalem (city of peace), and Jeremiah (whom YHWH has appointed) the prophet was imprisoned in the courtyard of the guard, which was in the palace of the king of Judah (praised). 3 For Zedekiah (YHWH is righteous) king of Judah (praised) had imprisoned him, saying: “Why are you prophesying like this? You claim that the LORD {YHWH} says, ‘Behold, I am about to deliver this city into the hand of the king of Babylon (confusion by mixing), and he will capture it.
