1 The burden of Moab: Because in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, it has been cut off! Because in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, it has been cut off! 2 He has gone up to Bajith and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Over Nebo and over Medeba Moab is wailing. On all its heads is baldness, and every beard is cut off. 3 In its streets they have girded on sackcloth; on its rooftops and in the square, everyone wails, going down with weeping. 4 And Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; as far as Jahaz their voice is heard.
