1 This is the vision concerning Judah (praised) and Jerusalem (city of peace) that Isaiah (YHWH has saved) son of Amoz (strong) saw during the reigns of Uzziah (my strength is YHWH), Jotham (YHWH is perfect), Ahaz (he has grasped), and Hezekiah (YHWH is my strength), kings of Judah. 2 Listen, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the LORD {YHWH} has spoken: “I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me. 3 The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s manger, but Israel (he wrestles with God) does not know; My people do not understand.” 4 Alas, O sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers, children who act corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD {YHWH}; they have despised the Holy One of Israel (he wrestles with God) and turned their backs on Him. Isaiah 1:1-4, Berean Annotated Bible. Public domain.
