36 others suffer'd cruel indignities and scourgings, besides chains and imprisonment. 37 they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandred about in sheepskins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented: 38 (of whom the world was not worthy) they wandred in desarts, and in mountains, having no retreat but the dens and caves of the earth.
