1 Then the LORD said to Moses (drawn out), “Come up to the LORD {YHWH}—you and Aaron (light bringer), Nadab (generous) and Abihu (he is my father), and seventy of Israel’s (he wrestles with God) elders—and you⁺ are to worship at a distance.

2 Moses (drawn out) alone shall approach the LORD {YHWH}, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”

3 When Moses (drawn out) came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD {YHWH}, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.”

4 And Moses (drawn out) wrote down all the words of the LORD {YHWH}. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel (he wrestles with God).
