1 On the fifteenth day of the second month after they had left the land of Egypt (land of bondage), the whole congregation of Israel (he wrestles with God) set out from Elim (palms) and came to the Desert of Sin (thorn), which is between Elim and Sinai (thorny). 2 And there in the desert the whole congregation of Israel (he wrestles with God) grumbled against Moses (drawn out) and Aaron (light bringer). 3 “If only we had died by the LORD’s {YHWH} hand in the land of Egypt (land of bondage)!” they said (he wrestles with God). “There we sat by pots of meat and ate our fill of bread, but you⁺ have brought us into this desert to starve this whole assembly to death!” Exodus 16:1-3, Berean Annotated Bible.
