2 Ye shall destroy all places wherin the nations whiche ye shall possesse serued their gods, vpon hye mountaynes, on hylles, and vnder euery greene tree. 3 You shall ouerthrowe their aulters, and breake their pillers, and burne their groues with fire, and you shall hewe downe the grauen images of the gods that they haue, and bryng the names of them to naught out of that place. 4 Ye shall not do so vnto the Lorde your God: Deuteronomy 12:2-4, Bishops' Bible of 1568.
