1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: behold, a plague of locusts coming up in the beginning of springing up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings. 2 And it came to pass when they had finished eating the grass of the land, then I said, O LORD God, forgive. Who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in numbers. 3 Then the LORD averted this calamity: it shall not be. 4 Thus has the LORD God showed me: and, behold, the LORD God called the people to judge them by fire, and it devoured the great deep and did eat up a part. 5 Then I said, O LORD God, forgive. Who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in numbers. 6 The LORD averted this calamity; this also shall not be. 7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the LORD was standing upon a wall made of adamant, and a plumbline was in his hand. 8 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see?
