1 Then some men came down from Judea (land of praise) and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you⁺ are circumcised according to the custom of Moses (drawn out), you⁺ cannot be saved. 2 And after engaging these men in sharp debate, Paul (humble) and Barnabas (son of encouragement) were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem (city of peace) to see the apostles (sent ones) and elders about this question. 3 Sent on their way by the church {ekklēsias}, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles {ethnōn} and bringing great joy to all the brothers (and sisters). 4 On their arrival in Jerusalem (city of peace), they were welcomed by the church {ekklēsias} and apostles (sent ones) and elders, to whom they reported all that God {Theos} had done through them.
