17 and their word will have pasture like gangrene, of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who missed the mark concerning the truth, saying the resurrection already to have happened; and they are overturning the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God has stood, having this seal: “The Lord knows those being His,” and, “Let everyone naming the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.” 20 Now in a great house there are not only golden and silver vessels, but also wooden and earthen; and some indeed for honor, but some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone shall have cleansed himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, having been sanctified, useful to the Master, having been prepared for every good work. 22 Now flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those calling on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 And refuse foolish and ignorant controversies, knowing that they beget quarrels. 24 And it is necessary for a servant of the Lord not to quarrel, but to be kind toward all, able to teach, forbearing, 25 in gentleness disciplining those opposing, lest ever God may give them repentance unto a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they might come to their senses out of the snare of the devil, having been captured by him unto his will. 2 Timothy 2:17-26, Berean Literal Bible.
