Evil in the Last Days

1But know this, that in the last days difficult times will be present. 2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boasters, proud, verbally abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without control, savage, without love of good, 4betrayers, reckless, having been puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of godliness but having denied its power. And turn away from these.

6For out of these are those slipping† into households and taking captive weak women, heaped up with sins, being led by various passions, 7always learning and never being able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

8Now by which way Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses,† so also these oppose the truth, men having been corrupted in mind, disqualified concerning the faith. 9But they will not advance much further, for their folly will be evident to all, as also that of those two became.

10But you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11persecutions, sufferings, such as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what manner of persecutions I bore up under! And the Lord delivered me out of all. 12And all those also wanting to live godlily in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13But evil men and imposters will advance to the worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14But you, abide in the things you learned and were convinced of, having known from whom you learned, 15and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, having been completely equipped toward every good work.
