Par

Do you, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

And the things which you heard from me, through many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who will be competent to teach others also.

Suffer hardship with me , as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

No one, serving as a soldier, entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

And, if also one contends in the games, he is not crowned, unless he contends lawfully.

The toiling husbandman must first partake of the fruits.

Consider what I am saying; for the Lord will give you discernment in all things.

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my Gospel;

wherein I am suffering hardship, even to bonds, as a malefactor; but the Word of God has not become bound.

Therefore, I suffer all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

Faithful is the saying; for, if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him ;

if we endure, we shall also reign with Him ; if we deny Him , He will also deny us;

if we are faithless, He remaineth faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Of these things put them in remembrance, solemnly charging them before God, that they engage not in word-battles to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.

Give diligence to present yourself approved to God, a workman not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

But shun the profane babblings, for they will proceed to more ungodliness;

and their word will spread, as a gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

who erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and are overthrowing the faith of some.
