1 Afterward when the king sate in his house, & the Lord had geuen him rest round about from all his enemies, 2 The king sayde vnto Nathan the prophete: Beholde, I dwell nowe in an house of Cedar trees, but the arke of God dwelleth within the curtaynes. 3 And Nathan sayde to the king: Go, and do all that is in thyne heart, for the Lord is with thee. 4 And the same night the worde of the Lorde came vnto Nathan, saying: 5 Go, and tell my seruaunt Dauid, thus sayeth the Lorde: shalt thou buylde me an house to dwell in? 6 For I haue not dwelt in any house, sence the time that I brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, vnto this day: but haue walked in a tent and tabernacle. 7 In al the places wherin I haue walked with all the childre of Israel, spake I one worde with any of ye tribes of Israel, when I commaunded the iudges to feede my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of Cedar trees? 2 Samuel 7:1-7, Bishops' Bible of 1568.
