1 And YHWH sent Nathan to David, and he came to him and said to him, “There were two men in one city—one rich and one poor.

2 The rich one had flocks and herds exceedingly many.

3 And the poor one had not anything, but if one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and kept alive. And it grew up with him and with his children together. Of his own food it ate, and from his own cup it drank, and in his bosom it lay, and it was to him like a daughter.

4 And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare for the wayfaring man who had come to him. And he took the ewe lamb of the poor man and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”

5 And the anger of David was kindled against the man greatly, and he said to Nathan, “As YHWH lives, surely shall die the man who has done this.
