10 And the LORD came and stood and called twice, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel said, Speak, LORD; for thy servant hears. 11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do such a thing in Israel that whoever shall hear of it, shall give heed. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 And I will show him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knew when his sons reviled the people and he did not rebuke them. 14 Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's household shall not be purged with sacrifices nor offerings for ever. 1 Samuel 3:10-14, Lamsa Bible.
